It is our pleasure to invite you to the “OTC I: Starter Course – Closed Fracture Treatment and Casting Techniques”, which will take place on Saturday, 13 December 2025, at the Ghent University Hospital (UZ Gent).

In this Starter course, we will mainly focus on acute and closed fracture treatment, including practical tips and tricks on diagnosis and closed reduction maneuvers. An important aspect of closed fracture management is the application of casts.

Therefore, extensive theoretical and hands-on practical sessions regarding plastering will be provided*. The course is open to all trainees involved in the initial management of trauma.

This course is designed for first- and second-year residents but is open to all trainees involved in the initial management of trauma. (Feel free to share this invitation with your contacts).

COURSE INTRODUCTION This cadaver course is organized by the IORT in collaboration with the orthopedic department of UZ Leuven and is intended for orthopedic trainees with special interest in knee arthroscopy. With theoretical and practical sessions we aim to familiarize the participants with the topics of this cadaveric workshop. Short lectures by the faculty members will highlight the most important surgical steps during arthroscopic knee procedures, after which all participants will have plenty of time to improve their surgical skills in the cadaver lab.

LUSTRUMVIERING 20 JAAR BELGIAN KNEE SOCIETY

Geachte collega, beste BVOT lid,

In 2025 bestaat de Belgian Knee Society (BKS) 20 jaar. Deze mijlpaal mag niet ongezien voorbij gaan. Namens het volledige BKS bestuur ben ik dan ook zeer verheugd u te kunnen uitnodigen op onze feestelijke BKS Lustrumviering, die zal doorgaan op zaterdag 8 november 2025. We bieden  een boeiend wetenschappelijk programma, gevolgd door een galadiner en een afterparty voor de feestvierders die er niet snel genoeg van krijgen.

Dit alles zal plaatsvinden in het imposante Steigenberger Icon Wiltcher’s hotel op de Louizalaan 71 in Brussel.

Topic van deze jubileumviering is: Looking to the past brings us to the future.

Een gedreven faculty van Belgische orthopedische topsprekers zal terugkijken naar wat was en een blik werpen op waar we heen moeten: welke mijlpalen zijn bepalend geweest, waar zijn we misschien de mist ingegaan, en hoe hebben de inzichten zich door de jaren heen ontwikkeld? Met die insteek hopen we op een boeiende, interactieve discussie waar zowel oudere als jongere en toekomstige collega’s veel aan zullen hebben.    
We verwelkomen ook drie ervaren sprekers voor een keynote lecture over klinische en economische evidentie van orthopedische zorg en een nieuwe kijk op gezondheidszorg. Ik nodig u alvast uit het finale programma in bijlage te bekijken.

Accreditering voor Ethiek & Economie werd aangevraagd.

We hopen u te mogen verwelkomen tijdens deze wetenschappelijke namiddag en  het avondfeest, waarop ook uw partner is uitgenodigd. Voor de partners wordt er tijdens het wetenschappelijk gebeuren een sociaal programma aangeboden, bestaande uit een ludieke rondleiding door Brussel: “Brussel, 1000 jaar strijd”.

BHS invites DHS - The Young Adult Hip

Op zaterdag 13 september 2025 nodigt de Belgian Hip Society de Dutch Hip Society uit voor een gezamenlijke meeting in Brugge (NH hotel Brugge).

Het thema van deze gemeenschappelijke meeting is "the Young Adult Hip" waarbij we tijdens het symposium zullen bijleren over zowel het ontstaan, de behandeling als de gevolgen van courante en minder courante heuppathologie bij deze specifieke patiëntengroep. Verder werpen we een blik in de toekomst van gewrichtssparende heupchirurgie, zonder te vergeten waar we vandaan komen, en is er ook ruimte voor casuïstiek en discussie.

Na de meeting is er een walking lunch voorzien met de mogelijkheid de sprekers op een persoonlijke manier te benaderen.

Aansluitend nemen we van de gelegenheid gebruik om ook de sociale beestjes in ons te voeden en elkaar op een ongedwongen, sportieve en feestelijke manier te ontmoeten.

Zo is er na het congres de gelegenheid om ook aan te sluiten bij onze jaarlijkse fietstocht en mee te genieten van het avondfeest inclusief eten, drank, muziek, …

The Belgian Knee Society offers to 20 residents, fellows or young (< 10 years in practice)

orthopedic BKS members an educational grant, covering the registration fee for “The

Robotic Knee Conference” on Friday 09 May 2025 in the ORSI Academy, Melle Belgium.

The aim is to help facilitate the participation of our young professionals, contributing to

their continued medical education and professional development.

The grant is supported by Smith&Nephew.

Requests for this grant support should be submitted to the BKS secretary at

secretariaatBKS@outlook.com. Request should include: year of Orthopedic Residency

or fellowship status for resident’s or fellows / year of orthopedic acknowledgement for

practicing orthopedic knee surgeons + proof of registration ( and payment) for the

Robotic Knee Conference + short motivation ( max 5 lines) to attend the conference+

bank account number.

Deadline for application is 07/5/2025.

Priority will be given to colleagues in training ( resident’s and fellow). The remaining

tickets will be awarded to BKS members certificated less than 10 years ago, with

selection based on the motivational writing.

The BKS will reimburse your registration fee upon.
